We also take all the pain out of list management by handling the messy stuff like bounces and unsubscribes automatically; you can even get your hands dirty with segmenting and personalization, we’ve got you covered!

And it gets better with reporting and return on investment tools; we give you great looking reports that let you measure the effectiveness of every campaign you send. With Envy you will go beyond opens and link clicks and measure your campaign related sales, conversions and ROI with our fantastic Google Analytics integration. We can even show you what email clients your subscribers are using!

It’s all fully managed, operated by you. If you’re serious about Email and want to generate Envy in your industry get in touch for rates! Consultancy and training is also available!

jQuery jAlert - Neat little Dialogs

Check out http://abeautifulsite.net/notebook/87 for a tidy little jQuery plugin enabling smart, quick and easy to implement alert dialogs. The download comes with all images/CSS files and can be edited as and how you require. I’ve used alot of this throughout a couple of new applications I’ve developed and they’re alot smarter than the crappy standard JS!

Implementing Cookieless Session State in ASP.NET

I’m literally at the end stages of a new project which utilizes (as do many web applications) session states on the server. Sessions have been around for donkey years but as many will know they use cookies as a means of storing the identifier.

ASP.NET supports cookieless execution of the application by means of tossing the session identifier around in the request URL. Using this method does come with its own risk, however, cookies are now no longer considered as a safe medium to store data in certain scenarios. I only know too well and as such have been requested for this development to implement this new method.

To enable cookie less sessions in an ASP.NET application simply cop open the web.config file and add the line: cookieless=”true” to the session state element. You an also set the session identifier not to replicate if unused (more to come).

When you do have cookie less sessions be warned that the URL WILL appear different, kind of like this: “http://projectenvy.co.uk/(S(SESSIONID))/Default.aspx”.

Ecommerce Frameworks - Open Source vs Bespoke

Having recently endeavoured further into the technologies driving eCommerce and online stores for my clients it has often come down to two choices, use Open Source systems such as Magento or OS Commerce, or develop a bespoke solution based on business requirements.

I have found that often if the business requirement is to create a broad offering of products at a variety of prices, for example selling CD’s or DVD’s then I have often found it is more economically viable especially for new businesses or brands to use Open Source solutions.

For more bespoke product offerings with more complex promotion and marketing requirements, bespoke builds will often work best.

I recommend using software such as Magento as it provides many features straight out of the box and sits on open source technologies which are the LAMP or WIMP/WAMP stack.

You will find that I will blog more in the future on eCommerce and selling on line in general, this is a first in the series so watch this space!

New project launched: www.JarrodHeadley.co.uk

Project Envy are proud to announce the launch of our latest innovation www.JarrodHeadley.co.uk - a brand new website for Jarrod Headley Opticians of Pudsey, Leeds. Jarrod has been in optometry for 17 years. Since 2007 he has diversified into supporting local businesses with their optical needs.

The website utilizes Classic ASP, a MySQL database and JavaScript/XHTML/CSS for the build. For smaller websites of this size we often use such technologies such as Classic ASP or PHP and MySQL databases to keep hosting and support fees to a minimum.

Norman gets off his arse and makes a website

Benjamin Norman, a friend and colleague has finally popped his online cherry with the launch of www.BenjaminNorman.co.uk; a website dedicated to his masterful skillage in the art of web design and web marketing.

Ben, a young IT undergrad from ye olde Hebden Bridge whom is currently working with us at Swift Blinds has continuously proved himself in creating soulful artwork for both our websites and offline advertising such as magazine prints and business stationary. He seems to show a natural tenacity for developing for the web and as such he has taken these steps to further gain experience and develop his talent.

Once a promising footballer and coach his career was recently damaged from many-piss-ups-with-the-lads-and-too-many-takeaway syndrome, a serious condition found in many young males where an unfortunate lack of self control has severe and detremental health effects. Ben is now looking to fund his dreams of owning a chavvy Fiat Punto Sport by providing freelance and contract services in the realms of web design and web consultancy.

Please visit his website and feel free to contact Ben or myself should you have any online or digital work available. It is also worth mentioning that Ben will soon become the ripe old age of 21 and as such most of August will be written off.
